Rise, Phoenix College’s literary and arts magazine, embraces unique voices from a diverse population of artists and writers, fostering connections between our students and the wider creative community. Our vision is to uplift and celebrate our students and local artists and writers. Rise is a student-driven project. The magazine is published annually both digitally and in print.
The publication of this magazine is made possible by the students and faculty in the Special Interest CRW298AC course, open for enrollment next Spring 2025, and the Creative Writing, English, and Art programs at Phoenix College.
Editorial Staff

Camryn Costello was born and raised in Arizona. An avid reader and writer, she seeks to pursue those passions further by mashing words together that evolve, miraculously and curiously, into fiction and poetry, and rollicking with her husband and two cats down the road to becoming an editor.

Katherine Glow is a Phoenix, Arizona native and a high school senior taking classes at Phoenix College. She enjoys making art using many different medias, including photography, ceramics, and printmaking. Katherine will attend the University of Arizona in the fall of ‘24. She is also an active volunteer at Valley Youth Theatre as a part of the backstage crew and as assistant stage manager.

Lily Rochin is a multimedia artist who loves the intricacy of human expression. She hopes to convey the complexities of emotion and internal thoughts through writing poetry and fiction.

Wyatt Plafker is an education major in their first year of college. He’s heavily into art and general nerdy stuff! She loves writing about problems that actively affect her, like feminism, abuse, body dysmorphia, and eating disorders.

Cody Wilson is a published poet who teaches English and Creative Writing courses at Phoenix College. He enjoys riding bikes, writing, reading, playing music, and occasionally attempting a kick flip or a 50/50 on his skateboard, though not without risking injury to both his body and his self-esteem.
He facilitates the CRW298AC Rise Editorial Class at Phoenix College, open for enrollment once each year.
